What types of diggers are there?
There are many different types of diggers. Different diggers are used for different jobs.
The most common diggers are Backhoes and Excavators.
There are Mini Excavators like the one in this picture. There are Long Reach Excavators which have very long arms.

What work do diggers do?
Diggers are great at digging holes and moving earth. But what else can they do? A lot of cool things!
Diggers can help with building and construction. They can make trenches for pipes. They can flatten earth so it is ready to build.
They can help with demolition jobs, like in the picture.
Diggers can clean canals. They can lift heavy objects. They can drill holes and break rocks. They can reach very far to do their work. Some can even work under water.

What tools does a digger use?
Have you ever seen a digger use a bucket to move earth? A bucket is not the only tool a digger can use.
Diggers need different tools for different jobs.
Diggers use rippers and rakes, hammers and grapples, and many other tools.

Who fixes diggers?
When a digger has a problem, it’s time to call a mechanic.
This man is a mechanic. He fixes all kinds of diggers. He listens to the engine. He looks for clues. He tests the parts.
When the mechanic finds the problem, he fixes the digger.
